Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data mentrel collects through this website and through enquiries sent to us, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read rather than to be survived.
Who is responsible
mentrel is the data controller for the processing described here. For any privacy question, or to exercise any of the rights below, email kareem@mentrel.com. We answer within 30 days.
Analytics, and why you were asked
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people read. Until you accept, Google Analytics storage is switched off through Google's Consent Mode, so no analytics cookies are written and no identifiers are stored. If you decline, nothing is stored and the site behaves identically.
Where consent is given, we process: pages viewed and time on them, approximate location derived from your IP address (country and city level), device type, browser and operating system, referring website, and whether you are a new or returning visitor. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store your IP address — it is used in transit to infer coarse location and then discarded.
Legal basis: your consent, under Article 6(1)(a) UK/EU GDPR and the ePrivacy rules on storing information on your device. You can withdraw it at any time, as easily as you gave it, using Cookie settings in the footer of any page. Withdrawing also deletes the analytics cookies already on your device. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.

Your accept-or-decline choice itself is remembered in your browser's local storage under mentrel.consent. That is strictly necessary to honour your choice — it is what stops us asking again on every page — and it is never sent to us or to anyone else.
Who the data reaches
Analytics data is processed by Google (Google Ireland Limited for visitors in Europe, and Google LLC) acting as our processor under Google's data processing terms. This can involve transfer outside the UK/EEA, including to the United States; those transfers rely on the EU–US and UK–US Data Privacy Framework and on Standard Contractual Clauses. Google's own handling is described at business.safety.google/privacy.
We do not run advertising on this site, do not use Google Signals or advertising features, do not build cross-site profiles, and do not sell or share personal data with anyone else. Advertising storage stays switched off permanently, whatever you choose.
How long it is kept
Analytics records associated with an identifier are retained for 14 months and then deleted automatically by Google. Aggregate reporting totals, which identify nobody, persist beyond that. Emails you send us are kept for as long as we have a business relationship and for up to two years afterwards, then deleted.
If you email us
When you email us about a report, we process your name, email address, employer and whatever you choose to put in the message, in order to reply and to run the audit you asked for. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our services, and performance of a contract where one follows. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not send marketing you did not ask for.
Client reports
Reports we deliver are hosted separately from this website, at unguessable private links that are not indexed by search engines and are not cached. Those pages carry no analytics and no tracking of any kind: we do not measure who opens a report or when. That is a deliberate part of the design, not an oversight.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or provide it in a portable form. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Exercising any of these is free, and you only need to email kareem@mentrel.com.
You can also opt out of Google Analytics across every site you visit using Google's browser add-on.
If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority — in the UK the Information Commissioner's Office, or in the EU the supervisory authority where you live or work.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects what you consented to, ask for your choice again.
